The Role:

We have an exciting and brand-new opportunity for a Cad Design Engineer to join us, as we embark on the AMP8 five-year investment cycle with Anglian Water.

This is a unique chance to be involved in one of the UK's largest main-laying programmes,

As a Main Laying Designer, you will be responsible for checking, processing and designing new water mains, diversions and non-standard connections for development sites.

Your role will involve carrying out site visits, creating technical drawings on CAD and managing customer communications to ensure the smooth processing of each application from start to finish.

Here are some of the activities that you’ll get involved in…

  • Receiving, checking and processing applications for new water mains, diversions, and connections, liaising with customers to ensure all required information is provided.
  • Conducting site visits ahead of designing water mains layouts on CAD
  • Preparing risk assessments and materials lists.
  • Calculating charges and provide terms and conditions to customers.
  • Monitoring and processing post-commissioning information, including payment of water mains and liaising with relevant teams for the next steps.
  • Overseeing the receipt of as-laid drawings, monitoring fire hydrant installations, and issuing completed drawings to customers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Developing strong relationships with colleagues and external customers, ensuring high levels of service delivery and prompt resolution of queries.

Previous experience using AutoCAD 2006 is essential and ideally an engineering or maths qualification at A Level or above.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, along with a team-oriented mindset and ‘customer-first’ approach.
