Sub-Agent

£58k - £65k

Ipswich

We are ambitious - and keen to hear from determined and motivated people like you, who are interested in developing their engineering experience in the world of utilities.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Sub Agent to join our team on a technically diverse civils and utilities project near Leiston, East Anglia (IP16). The scheme covers a wide range of activities including groundworks, drainage, pavement and building construction, with a mix of structural concrete, steel works, ductile iron pipework, and racking installations.

This role supports our position as Principal Contractor in a self-delivery environment, so experience working within highly regulated sectors—ideally infrastructure or nuclear—is highly advantageous. You will play a critical part in overseeing site operations, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and supporting the smooth coordination of works across multiple subcontractors.

Here is a snapshot of some of the activities…

  • Monitor and oversee daily site activities to ensure progress aligns with project plans and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and liaise with stakeholders to maintain clear communication and effective delivery.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with resource planning, risk management, and maintaining accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Act as a key contact for clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure alignment with project goals and timely resolution of issues.

We would love to hear from you if…

You are degree-qualified or hold an equivalent civil engineering qualification, alongside a CSCS card, SMSTS certification, and a full UK driving licence. Proven site experience in large-scale civils or infrastructure projects, ideally within regulated environments such as nuclear or utilities, is essential. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills are vital for managing multiple subcontractors and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships. Familiarity with CDM regulations and safe working systems is required.

Candidates working towards professional chartership (ICE, CIOB, CIHT, APM) and holding additional qualifications such as Temporary Works Supervisor or Lifting Appointed Person will be highly regarded.
