An informal, co-educational independent day school in Golders Green, North London for students from reception to sixth form. Catering for 750 students and teachers. We offer a core feeding of snacks and lunch with some hospitality. This is a term-time only role working 42 weeks a year and operates Monday to Friday.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious contracts in London.

Role requirements (Task & Responsibilities):

  • Prepare basic foods for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices and to the standards specified.
  • Prepare all service areas for the day’s business, in line with specified standards and good hygiene, safety and customer service principles.
  • Re-stock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods, pre-empt customer needs and achieve optimum customer service delivery.
  • Operate cleaning, dishwashing equipment ensuring all safety measures are adhered to. Properly clean and store equipment for food and beverage service & preparation.
  • Complete all/any necessary cleaning/hygiene duties within storage, service and preparation areas in line with set methods and frequencies as may be detailed by the chef manager.
  • Serve customers, clients, visitors and guests in line with set service standards and expectations.
  • Prepare, set-up, deliver, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverages or equipment required for special functions, match teas and/or hospitality services.
  • Empty, remove and store rubbish as required.
  • Support CM with Print the labels per request, Fill HACCP for the hot and cold hold food records
  • weekly bookwork, inputting of invoices, inputting sales data, typing menus

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure attendance to all staff meetings as required.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedural requirements of both legislation and company are adhered to in order to promote a professional and flexible approach at all times.
  • Ensure that the correct uniform is worn neatly and is clean and fresh at all times.
  • Ensure any necessary checks are carried out in the service and associated areas for food temperatures, faults, maintenance requirements or equipment shortages.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request of management

Key personal skills and attributes:

  • A confident nature and the ability to communicate easily with others (including children) in a busy service environment, is essential.
  • An effective team player with good listening skills, the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Impeccable personal presentation, hygiene and behaviour towards others.
  • Detail conscious and ability to be effective under pressure.
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible as necessary.
  • Reliable, honest, loyal and able to demonstrate an open, attentive approach to customer service in a public environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take some responsibility.
  • Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (of trolleys).
  • Experience of working within an office environment processing invoices, updating stock sheets, in putting data, Experience with excel, word, office, an all-round team player, Organised with attention to detail

Knowledge / competencies:

  • Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
  • Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
  • Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
