Director of Housekeeping

Contract: Permanent
Salary: $90,000 - $95,000 per year

The Director of Housekeeping is a key leadership role responsible for the overall management and operation of the housekeeping department within a luxury hotel setting. This position demands a commitment to excellence, ensuring that the hotel consistently meets and exceeds both Forbes and Preferred Standards for cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction. The Director will lead a dedicated team, implement best practices, and maintain a pristine environment that aligns with the hotel’s luxury brand image.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing housekeeping team to deliver exceptional service and meet luxury standards.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable about Forbes and Preferred Standards, cleaning protocols, and service expectations.
  • Implement effective scheduling and staffing strategies to optimize labor costs while maintaining service excellence.


Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring all areas (guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house) are cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Develop and enforce housekeeping policies and procedures that align with Forbes and Preferred Standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and staff performance to ensure compliance with established quality standards.


Quality Control and Standards Compliance:

  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure adherence to Forbes and Preferred Standards for cleanliness and presentation.
  • Monitor guest feedback and satisfaction surveys, addressing any concerns and implementing corrective actions as necessary to enhance the guest experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually enhance housekeeping operations and guest service.


Budget Management and Cost Control:

  • Manage the housekeeping budget, including labor costs, supplies, and equipment, to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective strategies for purchasing and inventory management while maintaining quality standards.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments (front desk, maintenance, food and beverage) to ensure seamless operations and a cohesive guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with the management team regarding housekeeping performance, challenges, and guest feedback.


Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and practices.
  • Implement training programs for staff regarding safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in housekeeping management within a luxury hotel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Forbes and Preferred Standards, along with a proven track record of achieving high guest satisfaction ratings.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in housekeeping management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
