The Standard Lisbon

Beverage Manager

Let’s Go Lisbon!

Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our long-anticipated arrival in one of Europe’s most happening cities. Located at Palácio Santa Clara, the hotel rises above the colourful alleyways of Alfama—Lisbon’s most picturesque neighbourhood—offering front-row views of the river. Built atop the ancient College of St. Francis Xavier, which served as the Portuguese Royal Navy Hospital for over 200 years, the property is being reimagined to respect its heritage while looking ahead to a bold, unconventional Lisbon.

Anchored in food, music, art, and culture, The Standard, Lisbon brings our signature design and experience-driven philosophy to Portugal. With 170 guestrooms and 24 adjacent apartments, the expansive property features vibrant spaces for day- and nightlife programming, including a Guest Lounge, Bar, Restaurant, Café, Pool Deck, Rooftop, Event spaces and 24-hour In Room Dining.

As we enter our pre-opening phase, we are now looking for a Beverage Manager who will embody our 'Anything but Standard' ethos and play a key role in bringing our bars and beverage experiences to life.

Your Role

Our Restaurants, Bars, and Rooftop terraces are legendary, and The Standard is synonymous worldwide as a shining beacon for nightlife. As Beverage Manager for The Standard, Lisbon, you will report directly into the Director of Food & Beverage and work in close partnership with them throughout the pre-opening and operational phases of the hotel.

During pre-opening, you will be responsible for all things beverage-related across the property. This includes the curation and development of wine, cocktail, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage menus across all outlets, including minibars and In Room Dining. You will support the recruitment of our bar teams, create and deliver pre-opening training programmes, ensure OS&E (operating supplies and equipment) are ordered and in place, and assist the Director of F&B with wider pre-opening projects to ensure openings run to schedule, budgets are controlled, and all outlets launch successfully.

With multiple bars, restaurants, terraces, event spaces, and a rooftop destination, this is a highly hands-on role requiring flexibility, creativity, and strong operational leadership. You will be a confident operator with a solid background in bar management, able to take a pragmatic yet imaginative approach to developing new beverage concepts, contributing to hotel programming, nightlife, and events, and creating beverage partnerships that drive revenue across all areas of F&B.

You will bring proven experience in purchasing wines and beverages, with strong relationships with local suppliers, enabling you to negotiate competitive pricing while maintaining exceptional quality and creativity. Your keen eye for detail ensures nothing is missed, and your presence within the operation guarantees our bars are immaculately maintained, beautifully staged, and consistently delivering an outstanding guest experience.

As part of The Standard culture, you will play an active role in hosting our guests, from headline parties and events to daily interactions with regulars. Just as important is your leadership of the team. You will work closely with HR and the wider management team to ensure clear communication, strong engagement, and that every team member lives and breathes our culture and values.

Do You Have What It Takes to Be Our Beverage Manager at The Standard, Lisbon?

This is not a ‘standard’ Beverage Manager role. You will need stamina, passion and personality; be highly social, upbeat and confident; thrive under pressure; and enjoy being at the heart of a fast-paced, nightlife-driven hospitality environment, while working collaboratively within the hotel’s senior management team.

A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a senior operational F&B management or Bars Manager role, ideally gained within a lifestyle hotel or complex multi-outlet hospitality business.

In addition to this, you may also have…

  • Pre-opening hotel, bar, or restaurant experience with strong project management skills
  • A solid understanding of the Lisbon bar scene, competitors, local business requirements, licensing, and the local labour market
  • Experience managing a busy nightlife operation
  • Proven cocktail and beverage menu development experience
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience purchasing wines, spirits, beers, and beverages
  • Confidence in managing bar operations and order of service, with the ability to deliver effective cocktail and wine training
  • Experience leading and managing large bar teams
  • A passion for arts, music, and entertainment, with strong local cultural awareness
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A highly social, proactive, and motivated personality – you’ll need to be the life and soul of the party
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including late nights, as part of our regular nightlife and events programme

If you think you have what it takes to be our Beverage Manager at The Standard, Lisbon, we would love to hear from you.
