The Elvetham Hotel is an elegant country house hotel in Hampshire, rich in history and set in 35 acres of beautiful gardens. The hotel is one of the most historic sites in Hampshire entwined in the British Royal Family. The site can be traced back to as early as the 800's AD. Today the Estate consists of 91 bedrooms shared between the Main House and The Stables, as well as four unique and flexible function rooms.

We are currently recruiting for a Maternity cover Receptionist, this is a fixed term contract for 39/52 weks to join our Truly Talented team.

Reporting directly to the Front Office Manager, this is an exciting role for a talented individual who is looking for a new challenge and wants to join a fast-paced, busy and hardworking team environment.

  •  £25.396 per annum pro rata for part time
  •  Permanent, full-time contract (40hrs per week) OR Permanent, part-time contract (20rs per week)

We are looking for a friendly, professional, and well-presented Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our beautiful Grade 2 listed country house hotel. Nestled in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, our hotel offers a warm and relaxing atmosphere for guests—and a rewarding, team-oriented environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests with a warm, professional manner and ensure a smooth check-in/check-out process
  • Handle guest queries and provide helpful information about the hotel and local area
  • Answer phone calls and emails promptly and professionally
  • Manage bookings and reservations using our hotel management system
  • Process payments and maintain accurate records
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure guest needs are met
  • What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role (hospitality preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Well-organised with good attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and booking systems (training provided if necessary)
  • Flexible to work various shifts, including weekends
