Director of Catering
Contract: Permanent
Salary: $120,000 to $130,000 per year with great benefits
The Director of Catering is a dynamic sales leader with a passion for creating memorable experiences and building meaningful connections. Overseeing a team of four, this role is responsible for driving catering and event revenue across social, corporate, and wedding segments; serving as both a strategic leader and a hands-on seller. The ideal candidate brings creativity, commercial acumen, and a deep network within Washington, DC’s event and wedding communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the Catering, Conference Services, and Event Management teams to deliver flawlessly executed events and exceptional guest experiences.
- Actively prospect, solicit, and develop new catering business through personal sales calls, client entertainment, and participation in local and national industry events.
- Cultivate relationships with top event planners, corporate partners, and wedding professionals to strengthen the hotel’s presence in the DC market.
- Demonstrate strong financial leadership by preparing accurate forecasts, establishing annual strategic plans and budgets, and maximizing revenue opportunities.
- Contribute to annual commercial planning and present performance insights to senior leadership during quarterly reviews.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop creative event concepts and promotional offerings aligned with the hotel’s lifestyle positioning.
- Ensure all departmental communication, contracts, and procedures reflect the hotel’s standards of excellence and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience leading catering and events in a luxury or lifestyle hotel setting.
- Proven track record in managing both people and budgets, with a focus on driving profitability and team success.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Established network within the Washington, DC wedding and event community highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Newly renovated the hotel has 327 chicly styled and luxuriously appointed guest rooms, with 12 bespoke penthouse suites located on the 9th floor of the hotel.
