The Elvetham Hotel is an elegant country house hotel in Hampshire, rich in history and set in 35 acres of beautiful gardens. The hotel is one of the most historic sites in Hampshire entwined in the British Royal Family. The site can be traced back to as early as the 800's AD. Today the Estate consists of 91 bedrooms shared between the Main House and The Stables, as well as four unique and flexible function rooms.
We are currently recruiting for a Receptionist to join our Truly Talented team.
Reporting directly to the Front Office Manager, this is an exciting role for a talented individual who is looking for a new challenge and wants to join a fast-paced, busy and hardworking team environment.

Job Title: Hotel Receptionist
Job Summary:
The Hotel Receptionist is the first point of contact for guests. This role involves greeting guests, providing information, handling reservations, and managing check-ins and check-outs. The receptionist ensures that all guest needs and requests are addressed promptly, and the hotel operates smoothly in providing exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services:
Welcome guests warmly upon arrival and facilitate check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
Provide accurate information about hotel services, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
Respond to guest inquiries, both in-person and via phone or email.
Handle guest complaints, escalating issues to the relevant department when necessary.
Assist with special guest requests, such as booking transportation or restaurant reservations.
Reservations and Bookings:
Manage room reservations, including making, modifying, and canceling bookings.
Update guest information in the hotel management system.
Maintain accurate records of room availability and communicate with housekeeping to ensure room readiness.
Administrative Duties:
Process payments, issue room keys, and manage guest accounts.
Handle billing inquiries and ensure guests’ accounts are settled upon check-out.
Operate the hotel’s telephone system, forwarding calls to the appropriate departments or rooms.
Maintain a neat and organized reception area.
Communication and Coordination:
Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to address guest concerns.
Relay important guest information, such as special requests or VIP status, to relevant hotel staff.
Monitor the lobby and common areas to ensure they are clean and welcoming.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
Proven experience in customer service; hotel or hospitality experience preferred.
Proficiency in hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Fidelio) and Microsoft Office.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
Preferred:
Experience with reservation and front desk software.
Personal Attributes:
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Friendly, patient, and proactive in addressing guest needs.
Work Conditions:
Shifts will include weekends, and holidays.
The role involves standing for long periods and dealing with a high volume of guest interactions.
