Berenjak are seeking a Head of Marketing to lead the ongoing growth and development of the brand as we expand both domestically and internationally. Reporting directly into Berenjak’s founder Kian Samyani and working closely with Berenjak’s Head of Operations and JKS Restaurants’ Director of Growth Marketing the ideal candidate will be responsible for growing the brands to a global scale while maintaining brand ethos, relevancy and cultural capital.

The Brand

Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand across two locations, Berenjak is an exciting, critically acclaimed group of Perian restaurants with three locations in the UK (Soho, Borough Market, Soho Farmhouse) and four internationally (UAE, Qatar and New York). The menu reinterprets the classic hole in the wall eateries lining the streets of Tehran, whilst the service style focuses on genuine, warm hospitality and memorable guest experiences. The Role

Strategic Leadership and Vision

  • Develop the marketing vision and strategy in conjunction with the Founder to achieve business objectives and revenue targets.
  • Build a brand strategy to grow Berenjak into a market-leading global brand while maintaining cultural capital.
  • Ensure Berenjak is positioned and perceived as an institution rather than a chain as we grow.

PR and Partnerships

  • Manage our PR agency partners and ensure they meet objectives, providing demonstrable ROI and keeping Berenjak at the forefront of key cultural conversations and moments.
  • Strategise, secure and execute creative brand collaborations and partnerships. Be able to create the relationships with other leading brands that share our values and make them a reality.
  • Strategise and secure commercial media partnership opportunities for the brand.

Collaboration and Execution

  • Lead the execution and implementation of brand and marketing initiatives, enabling Berenjak to hit long-term and short-term goals.
  • Work with stakeholders and partners across the central and site teams to execute marketing, communications and press plans.
  • Manage creative, design and videography resources both internal and freelance to create innovate brand collateral and campaigns which stand out in the market.
  • Oversee brand, marketing, community engagement, content, social media and events for Berenjak.

Analysis, Impact and Optimisation

  • Work collaboratively with the team to define measurable metrics for brand value and use them to judge the impact of brand marketing efforts.
  • Utilise data-driven insights to measure and report on the impact of marketing campaigns, making data-backed recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Constantly keep a finger to the pulse of culture, market trends, customer behaviour, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and optimise our efforts.

Creative and Content Management

  • Work with creative, design, and videography teams, both internal and freelance, to create innovative brand collateral and campaigns that stand out in the market

Team Leadership and Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Budget Management

  • Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring a positive return on investment for all campaigns.
  • Have P&L management accountability including direct responsibility for consistently growing revenue

  • Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
  • A compelling writer able to translate raw ideas from stake holders into narrative brand copy that drives engagement and results.

Cultural Acumen and Connections

  • Your closest friends would describe you as someone who’s very in touch with “the culture” and has strong opinions about it.
  • You bring a rolodex of valuable contacts which go beyond restaurants into fashion, culture, sport and entertainment.
  • You have a passion for restaurants and a keen knowledge of the global landscape. You dine out frequently in London and can opine passionately about the scene.
  • You have an appreciation for Iranian and Persian culture, cuisine and history with a innate curiosity that drives you to constantly deepen your understanding

Business and Team Management:

  • Commercially driven.
  • Critical thinking, strategic acumen, and market insight
  • Ability to influence and manage a large number of stakeholders in a fast-moving, multi-layered business

International

  • Experience working on an international brand a plus.
  • Experience working, living or frequently travelling to New York and/or the Middle East a plus.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in brand forward marketing roles at consumer facing brands. Experience in restaurants and at a Head of level a plus.
  • Combination of creative, financial, and business skills.
  • Growth mindset with proven track record of developing and embodying a culture of rapid experimentation and continuous learning
  • Intermediate or higher skills with Adobe indesign required. Additional skill with wider Adobe suite or other creative tools a plus.
  • Data-driven and tech-savvy.
  • Proficiency across the marketing tech stack.
