Care Concern Group is growing… fast.
With 129 care homes (and counting) across the UK, we've proudly become a market leader in elderly care. In just the past year, we’ve celebrated the acquisition of 37 new homes and the commissioning of 17 brand-new services, with further exciting growth on the horizon.
As we continue this remarkable journey, we’re committed not only to growing our footprint but to strengthening the robust governance and care standards that underpin our success. That’s why we’re looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Health & Safety and Risk — a critical leadership role that will help ensure we remain safe, compliant, and forward-thinking as we scale.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead the Group’s entire Health & Safety and Risk Management function across a fast-growing, multi-site organisation. You will be responsible for developing and embedding a proactive, best-practice framework that not only ensures compliance but supports our strategic growth objectives. Reporting into the COO, you’ll partner with senior leadership to provide assurance to the Board that risks are identified, managed, and mitigated across all levels of the business.
You’ll combine strong technical expertise with commercial acumen, ensuring that governance, regulatory compliance, and quality standards evolve in line with our expanding operations - ultimately safeguarding our residents, colleagues, and business integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and continuously improve the Group’s risk management framework, ensuring risks are effectively identified, analysed, reported, and mitigated across all areas of the business.
- Produce clear and actionable board reports, providing assurance on governance, compliance, and emerging risks.
- Drive and oversee the Group’s Health & Safety Management System, integrating ISO 9001, ISO 14001, COSHH controls, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Lead on audits, inspections, training, and policy development. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to embed robust H&S culture at every level.
- Manage and develop a small but impactful team of Health & Safety Managers, delivering on KPIs, audits, and continuous improvement actions.
- Partner closely with the Insurance Manager, Quality Team, Learning & Development, and senior leadership to embed a proactive risk and safety culture aligned with business growth.
- Serve as the Group’s primary point of contact for regulators, enforcement bodies, suppliers, contractors, and external partners on all H&S and risk matters.
- Design and deliver comprehensive H&S training programmes for all levels of the organisation, from Board to front-line teams.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Chartered Member of IOSH with NEBOSH (or equivalent) qualifications.
- Extensive senior leadership experience in Health & Safety and Risk Management, ideally in a multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of risk governance frameworks, business continuity, legal compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Commercially astute with experience producing board-level risk and compliance reports.
- Exceptional influencing and stakeholder management skills, able to engage confidently at Board level.
- Inspirational leader, with experience developing and managing teams.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong IT literacy and reporting capability.
Desirable
- Experience in social care, healthcare, or regulated service environments.
- Quality Management Lead Auditor qualification.
- Experience working with insurers, legal teams, or regulators.
- Broad understanding of data protection and enterprise-wide risk.
