Shift Engineer

IMMEDIATE START | FULL-TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK

We are looking for a talented and energetic individual to be part of our friendly Maintenance team in the capacity of Shift Engineer at the Ampersand Hotel.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your role as Shift Engineer will come with the following responsibilities:

• To assist the Maintenance Manager / Chief Engineer in the efficient day to day running of the Maintenance department
• To ensure all maintenance work on a day to day basis is actioned as appropriate i.e. painting and decorating
• Monitor and operate all plant and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation
• Report or action any unsafe operating conditions immediately
• Assist or supervise contractors whilst undertaking maintenance or repairs to plant and equipment
• Ensure all life and safety systems are fully operational
• Ensure prompt attention to guest's complaints or needs
• Liaison with Housekeeping or Duty Manager in respect to moving guests to another room if problem cannot be repaired within 2 hours (nominal) or as appropriate depending or situation
• Ensuring the work requests in the Housekeeping/Engineering Log Book are actioned promptly, either by own action or referring work to other Engineering Team Members appropriately
• Attending to maintenance requests in a timely manner, prioritizing work accordingly
• Undertake any preventative maintenance tasks allocated under the preventative maintenance schedule
• Ensures all directions are followed out at the request of any level of Senior Management

Functional Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience as Maintenance Assistant or in a similar role gained in a 4/5* environment is ideal
• Professional & customer focused
• Outstanding organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

Social Skills and Experience

To possess the ability to communicate with guests and staff in order to project a positive image of the hotel. The ability to maintain hotel standards of work under pressure.
