The Elvetham Hotel is an elegant country house hotel in Hampshire, rich in history and set in 35 acres of beautiful gardens. The hotel is one of the most historic sites in Hampshire entwined in the British Royal Family. The site can be traced back to as early as the 800's AD. Today the Estate consists of 91 bedrooms shared between the Main House and The Stables, as well as four unique and flexible function rooms.

We are currently recruiting for a Receptionist to join our Truly Talented team.

Reporting directly to the Front Office Manager, this is an exciting role for a talented individual who is looking for a new challenge and wants to join a fast-paced, busy and hardworking team environment.

As a Receptionist, you will provide courteous and efficient service to all guests and maintain the levels of service to the highest standards at all times.

You will be responsible for greeting guests in a warm, friendly manner and be a true ambassador for excellent service, dealing with all requests and queries in an efficient and professional manner, whether face-to-face or over the telephone.

You’ll work in a busy and hardworking team environment, where you’ll continually learn and develop.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer and direct phone calls, taking detailed messages when necessary
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere
  • Assist with guest check-ins and check-outs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Manage guest inquiries and provide accurate and timely information about our services and amenities
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure guest requests and special needs are met
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, accurately processing payments 
 

Requirements

  • Must have your own transport due to location
  • Proven experience in a hotel environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with a particular focus on Word and Excel
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of reservation systems and hotel software is an asset

The ideal person for this role will be enthusiastic about change, focused on details and trusting.

You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates prior to commencing employment.
